2 Corinthians 5: 21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
1 Peter 5:5-6
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for GOD RESISTETH THE PROUD, AND GIVETH GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God that he may exalt you in due time:
When we gave our life to Christ, remember we were at the end of ourselves. We came to the realization that we, indeed, were “sinners in need of a Savior”. (Ref. Romans 3:22-23) This was not an easy decision for some of us. Getting to a place where we understand we are not truly in control of our lives is a hard truth for our mind to deal with. Our lives started spiraling out of control and we received a revelation deep within our souls that SOMETHING WAS MISSING!!!! There was a sense of longing inside us, a sense our lives could be more than what we were living. It could have been financial hardships, family disputes, friendship betrayals, relationship woes, a many number of things in life bring us to the desperation of wanting, NEEDING more. Of wanting, NEEDING Christ!!!
***Ok, hold up….If you are just now getting to this point, as you read this and would like to give your life to Christ for Him to be your personal Lord and Savior, please do not hesitate to do so. Find a spiritual advisor/mentor/Pastor or just a friend that you know has a personal relationship with Christ and have them pray for and with you regarding giving your life to Christ and receiving salvation through Him. If none of those are available to you (you can also contact me via email), dear reader, you can pray earnestly to God where you are now, with a heart to change your ways and live for Him, and I believe He will hear and receive you as His own!!!(also allow and trust God to lead you to a loving, Bible teaching church, so you can be taught, healed, delivered and properly loved on through your walk ***
Now we proceed….. so, we make that GREAT decision to receive the gift of SALVATION. We humble ourselves and want more of GOD and then…………………….!
Exactly friends…and then nothing. We lose the humility that brought us to Christ in the beginning. We try to keep and hold on to the very thing that had us in bondage. US!!! Our beliefs and mindsets. Our hearts and decisions. We forget quickly all the righteousness we obtained is only through HIM!!! We are nothing of ourselves!! WE ARE STILL MESSED UP!! Our ways may seem right, but they got us nowhere before, and will definitely not help us now. (Prov. 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death)
We conveniently forget how messed up we were/are and think we can walk our lives out OUR way. Especially once we connect ourselves to a ministry or church. We think because we proclaim Christ everything we do He blesses. Not true. And heaven forbid we get a title….lol
Salvation: believing and submitting ourselves to Jesus Christ knowing that He has redeemed us (paid for our sins) by His sacrifice on the Cross.
Sanctification: the process of being sanctified or made HOLY. The process of growing in divine grace as a result of commitment (to Christ) (ref. Merriam-Webster definition)
As a Christian, in order to be whole, you have to enter into the process of being made holy in HIM. Because we are Christians, we must become Christ like… (Read 1 Peter 1:13-16) You cannot, and I repeat CANNOT live this life partially. In order to “be made whole”, you must have the components that embodies wholeness. You can’t pick up a few crumbs of spirituality and expect to possess the whole loaf. You can’t learn a few basic scriptures and tell others to live by them, and yet nothing in the Word is being applied to YOUR life. You can’t be naïve enough to believe that because you are “saved”, the devil stops trying to confuse, deceive, steal, kill and destroy. (Ref. John 10:10)
Apart from Christ, we are nothing. You will never become your complete self, never understand your purpose, never believe who you are and what you are destined to be, without Him. God has known all along. We live this life to discover ourselves through Christ. We stop looking around us (what we can see) for answers, and start looking up (living by faith in Christ). We die to us and live in Him. (ref. Gal. 2:20)
In order to do that, loves, we have seek humility on a daily basis. The body of a Christ (the church as a whole institution) has lost this principle. We cannot lose the way that we came to Christ ourselves. We have to realize daily our need to die to US and grow in Him. (1 Corinthians 15:31b)
Point: Humility is a key to wholeness. Understanding you can do nothing apart from Christ. This allows you to seek Him constantly. Seek humility. (Ref Zephaniah 2:3) Allow your foundation to be in Him. Pray, Pause and Praise!!
1) PRAY: Stay in contact with God through Christ. You should talk to Him openly about your desire to seek humility, and have an ear to listen to Him speak to you. Prayer is not always about asking God for something. Talk to the Father openly and allow Him to communicate with you. (James 5:16b)
2) PAUSE: Allow yourself to be taught by God. Meaning, in any situation, don’t assume you already know what God wants to happen. Seek God in every situation you encounter. Sit back and wait patiently for God to reveal His will for you in that moment. If you’re about to go off, breathe and wait. If you think you know the answer to a question, stop and wait. If you have a decision to make, pause and wait. Get use to depending on God to lead and guide you. Transform your thoughts by renewing your mind. (Ref Romans 12:2) DO THINGS DIFFERENT!!!!
3) PRAISE: Take no individual credit for God’s work in your life. The world cannot give you what God can. YOU cannot give yourself what God can. TRUST ME!!! Praise God and Him only when things are accomplished in your life. When He uses you as a vessel, be thankful, not boastful. (Ref Galatians 6:14)
Let’s start today!!!! Pray Pause and Praise……and remember WE ARE STILL MESSED UP!!! But in Christ, we have hope!!!
