Freedom is such a simple word. Sadly, we don’t embrace the concept as we should. The word brings to mind the ability to be unattached, and untangled. It makes me think of a place where I am no longer bound or tied to anything. In this country, our freedom is mostly maintained by our military/government. Which means, ultimately we aren’t truly responsible for our freedom when it comes to being a citizen of the US. Now the exception to that is personal responsibility. We have to follow the laws set forth by our government. You and only you are in control of your personal freedom. You wake up every day and decide to follow the rules. When you don’t, you lose physical freedom…
But what about your spiritual freedom?
When we are walking with Christ and our identity is in Him, we cannot help but be free. We don’t have to worry about the opinions, or judgments of others. Who we are HAS to be wrapped up in who Christ is!!! The truth of our purpose is wrapped up in Him. Not only should we by faith believe this, but we should also, by faith, ACT as if this is true. Our actions have to line up with what we say. We don’t have to be afraid of what people see us do, or where we go because it ALL LINES UP WITH WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST!!!
John 8: 31-32
“ 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free”
It is not enough to just know the truth, you have to live it. Some of us are afraid of being who Christ says we are because it would not add up to the lifestyle we live. We live contradictory to the Word of God. We have to read, study, and live the Word. The world is not seeing a true representation of what it is like to be free in Christ. When we know the Word and do the Word, we embody freedom. We have confidence in all we do because it’s based on our position in Christ, NOT US!!!
There is freedom in transparency!!!
When we are a clear picture to those around us, we are not enslaved to what THEY THINK! This is FREEDOM! Being open, honest and truthful about where and who we are allows us to live free!!!
