Have Compassion…

We talk about having compassion often. Especially in a world plagued with the sin, violence, and sickness we observe on a daily basis; we can’t help but be moved, to feel “something”, right?
But is that compassion? The Word says His compassion/love never fails, but how often does ours?

2 things God spoke in my spirit on this evening about compassion that I want to share. First of all , compassion is for EVERYONE. We have a tendency to love the underdog. To care about the one that’s crying the loudest. The one that shows the most pain. The one wearing battle scars and war wounds on their sleeve. (not saying we shouldn’t show them compassion, please don’t misunderstand what I am saying) But God is an all inclusive God. Any one who excepts Christ is His child, but we are called to BE COMPASSIONATE TO ALL. The strong need compassion as well. Those too intelligent in their minds to see the glory in being dependent on God need compassion as well. Our flesh seeks out the weak to help because they are the easiest to see visible outcomes in. But what about the quiet person battling inner struggles, do we not show them compassion because they seem to be handling it well? Brokenness does not have a color, gender,or an age. It cannot be easily identified in a world accustomed to hiding. Wholeness is not determined by our outward success, so why should hurt, hopelessness and the need for deliverance be determined by our outward manifestations of pain? We need to show compassion to ALL!

The second thing God showed me is COMPASSION IS AN ACTION WORD! It is showing the love of Christ we all profess to have, in action. Sitting back and pitying someone’s situation is not compassion. Verbally stating how bad you feel, is not action. We must show love in deed!  We tend to show love to those suffering through things we identify with. Example: I overcome having an absent father, so I have compassion and help those with absent fathers. That’s ministry. You need compassion to do ministry, but you don’t have to have a ministry to be compassionate!  Compassion is an outward expression of an inward heart characteristic. I don’t have to have walked in the same shoes to extend love to you. Jesus died for all WE had done. He showed compassion to ALL OF US, no differences. God loved us so much that He showed action and sent His Son to dies for us. How’s that for compassion/love in action?

Let’s start walking in compassion. Let’s love everyone and show them in the way the Holy Spirit leads us.

Prayer: Please Lord give me a compassion for your people like Christ had for the church. Move in me Holy Spirit that I not just see ailments in the natural, but You awaken discernment in me to see in the supernatural. Allow my heart to be filled with love that leads to action. Love that leads to more prayer with You in order to seek God given solutions. Teach me and guide me , Lord so I can BE FULL of COMPASSION !

SEASON OF SUFFERING…

God always has a plan for us,  but there are steps we must go through to reach our expected end. One of the hardest things to do when you are going through a season of suffering is be silent about it.

God promises His grace to bring us 4 things after suffering and we should take comfort in THESE.

  1. Be restored – receiving more in every aspect of your life esp the things you felt was lost during suffering
  2. Be confirmed – knowing more than ever who you are in Christ and being confident in Him who was with you.
  3. Be strengthened – being sure that His strength is made perfect through our weaknesses (trials and sufferings) and gaining supernatural confidence that you can do all things through Christ.
  4. Be established – firmly rooted and grounded in the Lord and Saviour and becoming more like Him daily.

In 1 Peter 5:8 , the Word of God tell us to be sober (self-controlled) and vigilant ( watchful) because the devil is looking for someone to overtake. In verse 9 it states for us to be steadfast in our faith while resisting the devil because the same sufferings we have, so do our brothers and sisters in Christ. This lets us know we are not alone and we will suffer just resisting attacks! But greater is He that is in us!

Prayer is key during these moments. Go straight to God through our advocate, Jesus Christ. Allow the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide you, so you can overcome. It’s not about getting through, but learning while you are going through

Whatever you are going through , Be still and know that He is God and has it all under control. Be encouraged, it’s only for a moment….

    Be In Preparation….

    image

A new year is approaching us in just a couple of days. We always start the year claiming what’s ours and what God is going to do. Before you start the year, spend some time alone with God, praising and thanking Him for THIS year. Then try fasting and praying and allow Him to speak and give you His heart. This year is going to be exactly what you give. GOD is looking for true worshippers.

Where are the ones who just want to be in His presence?

Where are the ones who love the Creator, more than temporal things of the world?

Where are the Remnant of His church that have been through many trials and persecutions and are ready to walk in the calling in which they have been called?

Get your breakthrough NOW! GET ALONE with the Lord and allow Him to show you His plans and His will! Allow Him to breathe on you and restore you as you get ready for a new chapter….

    Be Not Weary….

    word

I was not planning on writing today, but the news of comedic genius, Robin Williams, succumbing to the spirit of depression awoke thoughts I needed to express. Yes, I did say, “a spirit of depression” because that is what it is. It is a tool of the enemy to keep our minds in a place of darkness unable to ask for or receive any help. It torments, ridicules and makes one feel useless and worthless. Many suffer silently. No one wants to admit to it. Wow, how do I know? Yes, you guessed it!!! I suffered for years. I remember the dark days of doom, the black curtains that enveloped the wall in my heart, the large doses of Valium, Xanax, and Ambien!!! How could I forget the days I woke up ready to go back to sleep, feigning for a pill to take away the pain of being awake. Oh yes!!! Those days are memories, but still real for me. And many reading this as well…..What saved me you ask???  THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST…

( I am in no way speaking on Robin Williams’ spiritual state or religious beliefs. His tragic death was the catalyst for this post, but this post is mainly about me and my experience with depression and how Christ saved ME)

I am not just a bible thumping, cross wearing Christian that has fallen for the crazy belief of serving a resurrected King…I am a person that was dying a slow, ugly death and I worship the only ONE TRUE GOD WHO SAVED ME…..This life is so real….My heart is crushed as I read about countless of suicides that take place because the battle to depression is lost before it can ever be fought. We have to be more present in each other’s lives. We have to be accountable to our brothers and sisters in this world who do not know the “peace of God which passes all understanding” (Ref Philippians 4:7). This is where interceding in SO important. We have to go to Jesus for those who can’t go for themselves!!!  The spirit of depression is crippling and devastating and comes for many different reasons. People in pain mentally, physically, financially, and spiritually become immobile. That spirit causes the mind to wreak havoc in EVERY area of one’s life. It can be masked, but only the Love of Christ can heal, deliver and set one totally free from it!!!! Christ tells us “Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Ref Matthew 11:28)

Laboring on our own and being “heaving laden” with the cares of this world can cause depression. This causes us to first be weary, and when we tarry in it long enough, depression sets in. When we lose focus on why we were created, life seems hard, cold, and unbearable. Not only does the Word of God and the love of Christ wash away sins, but it heals brokenness. Focusing on His wonderful Word leaves small room for the devil to pursue your thoughts with deceit. Resting in His Word and His love keeps weariness away….

Allow your heart and mind to be open to those around you. Watch out with spiritual eyes for those who could be suffering in silence. Let us do the work of Christ and not just be filled with scriptures and vain words. Pray today that your eyes of understanding be made aware of anyone in your circle who could be suffering. Tell the Lord to allow your paths to cross with someone who needs to know God’s Love. He has called us to love one another, not only in word, but in actions. Let us not get weary in this walk, but push even harder to spread the gospel. I love you all dearly!!! Don’t suffer anymore…SEEK Christ!!!
